Hong Kong: Day 2

Today, we got an earlier start because we knew there was a lot we wanted to do and we didn't have much time. Our first stop was to Lantau Island where we saw the Big Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery. The drive to get over there was even worth the trip. We got to cross the bridge over the water and see the mountains and beaches.

We rode a cable car up to the top of the mountain where the Big Buddha is located. When we saw it from a distance we were absolutely shocked at how large it was- I don't think any of us were ready for how big it actually was. When we got there we walked about a million and a half stairs to get to the base of the statue. Fine, I'm exaggerating. Anyway, look at this guy!

Next, we really wanted to go to a beach nearby, but the weather turned south. It was raining on and off. We decided to try anyway but it was such a hassle to get a taxi that after about an hour of struggling we gave up. Wouldn't be a trip with me and Kat if something didn't work out haha. We are really really really bummed about that actually because our friends went the day before and look at this picture one of them took! I mean, who knew something that beautiful even existed?

Anyway, we just went back to Causeway Bay to gather our thoughts. I went to Starbucks to buy  a Hong Kong up, and then we found a Forever 21 down the street. It was 6 stories...we only got to look through two floors before we had to go back to meet up with everyone.

We found a Mexican restaurant online and decided to try it out. It's apparently pretty popular because they almost couldn't give us a table to eat at because every table was reserved. It was delicious and a good way to satisfy the Mexican food cravings we've all been getting.

After that, we headed to Victoria Harbor to see 'A Symphony of Lights'. Basically, they play music and then the lights of the buildings dance and change to match the music. I'm so happy I got to see the city like that. Great way to end the trip.

Sadly, we head out in the morning tomorrow. We did our best, but there are still so many things I want to do in Hong Kong! Like shop shop shop :)

Don't worry. I will be back.
