(I wanna be famous, I wanna be a star..)
Last night I discovered what I was truly born to do.
We went to this bar in Tianjin that is supposedly the 'hot spot', and indeed it was. The place was packed and we had a blast. Basically, we danced all night long- which is right up our alley.
They had a cover band there, and the band would play like 8-10 songs, then the DJ would take over for half an hour or so and the band would come back. By the time the band came back for the second time, Young, Kat, and I had made our way to the front center of the stage. But the dance floor was packed with people, it was like a concert.
They played mostly today's hits American music, with some spanish hit songs mixed in. We are thinking the band was from Hong Kong because they were all trilingual which is too cool. Once they saw the three of us having a good time in the front, they only played American music during that set. During a Ke$ha song, one of the girls would take her microphone and put it down for us to finish lines of songs for her. It was a lot of fun.
Then, they started to play Taylor Swift's "You Belong with Me" and Kat and I were so excited. And I doubt they would have played that song if the three of us had not been in the crowd. Next thing you know, they pulled Kat on stage and handed her a microphone. Then, like 20 seconds later they grabbed me and handed me another microphone haha. We got to stand up there and sing the whole song, good thing I know all the lyrics to Taylor Swift...The lights were like blinding, but the bar was absolutely packed and we were essentially on stage at a concert (think about a room the size of the Masquerade in Atlanta).
So that was when I realized that I wanted to be a singer.
Just kidding. But not really. It was probably the most fun I've had in China. The band looked like they were having a blast, getting paid to sing and dance around all night long. I always think that about cover bands at like weddings and senior presents too. That would be the best job ever.
What a perfect way to spend our last night out in Tianjin!
