Beijing Round 1

There are four of us, Kat, Young and Chad and we’ve become a little crew. We pretty much do everything together. We went to Beijing last weekend to test out our ability to get to the city (by high speed train) and how to get around. We actually did pretty well. It was somewhat of a nightmare once we got there because we got lost a few times. We couldn’t sight-see because we wasted so much time finding our way around, but I’m really glad we went. The train ticket was 64 yuan (10 dollars) each way, and the subway we took to the hostel was about 2 yuan per trip. The hostel was 18 US dollars for each of us to stay one night. Overall, it was a pretty cheap trip. We did notice that food and other things are more expensive than in Tianjin. But, Beijing is MUCH cleaner and tourist-friendly than Tianjin. The area we went out for drinks was very international. We heard English, Spanish, French at every other table. It was bizarre seeing that many white people when we’re used to Tianjin. We went to a club called “Red Club” and it was a blast. They play American music everywhere here. Sometimes it’s remade into a Chinese version but a lot of times it’s just the original so we have a really good time. Lot’s of throwbacks because they aren’t exactly up to date on the music in the US.

That's the four of us after the world's LONGEST day making our way to Beijing (me, Kat, Young is taking the picture and Chad is on the far right).
